ABOUT “Bagyo”

BAGYO (“Storm”) is a song about hope and the strength of the human spirit.

When we are weighed down by our troubles and feel that our lives are headed nowhere, all we are left with is hope. Hope that inspires us to look inside ourselves and reminds us that there is a strong force that flows within — an unstoppable force, strong as a storm.

That whatever problems come our way, we will always survive, because, like the storm, we carry with us the winds of change. And with the winds of change, we can turn the tide so that our lives will be for the better — because life does get better.

After having witnessed life struggles of friends and family and how they were able to overcome them, I thought of writing a song about storms (or mga bagyo) that symbolize life’s adversities. But I realized that, more than just being about life’s adversities, BAGYO is really a song about the people who have had to deal with these.

It is a song about every human being who has had to struggle — and triumph. It is a song about you and me, about all of us. About how we all look up to the sky when in search of answers, hope, and strength. And how we, strong and fierce as a storm, are always able, with unceasing hope, to rise to the challenge and emerge victorious.

That, really, in the end, we are the storm — the ultimate storm that shall weather all other storms. And nothing can stop us.
